Royal Ascot is officially over for 2015 and we were treated to some exemplary performances from both equine and humans. This week, one person stepped up to the plate and destroyed his rivals with a similar force to what Frankel did in the 2012 Queen Anne. Congratulations to Sean who was only in negative figures after the first race, an unbelievable effort over five days with no less than eleven winners including two of the toughest handicaps of the entire Flat season. His final two selections were non runners and as he was unavailable at the time, it was only fair to leave him on the total received after the Diamond Jubilee. Second place (somehow) goes to Luke after ending day two with the maximum losses possible in this competition. Well done to him on clawing back the deficit, Undrafted winning the Diamond Jubilee ensuring he ended the week on profit.
The rest of the participants end the week with minus figures with third place going to Ant who has the right to feel slightly unlucky with Salt Island who would have ensured a profit had he not been denied by Anthem Alexander for third in yesterday’s Commonwealth Cup. Adam got fourth in the final race thanks to Teak finishing in the places but only just with Calum finishing just behind in fifth by a margin of £2.75. Will finished second last whilst Michael’s effort to get out of last place on the final day came unstuck when his NAP Robert Le Diable finished second in the Wokingham which means he finishes the week in a tailed off last.
Race 1 – OnTheOtherHoof Cup – (5 days and 4 hours) – 30 races

Started slowly, prominent 11th, good headway 14th, baulked 20th, unable to make up lost ground, slightly unlucky

Broke alertly, led 1st, prominent, maintained mid-division spot from 11th, outpaced 24th, one paced thereafter
5th) Calum – -£65.92
Mid-division early, good headway 18th, knocked back 22nd, weakened
6th) Will – £75
Started sluggishly, headway into mid-division 6th, moved up 16th, gradually weakened

Mid-division most of the way, weakened quickly 19th, tailed off
The stewards considered the apparent improved selection form of the winner SEAN who had finished unplaced in previous competitions. After assessing the information provided from the past twelve months, the stewards were satisfied of the result. They ordered SEAN to be routine tested.
The stewards held an enquiry into the performance of LUKE and his extremely slow start. They noted the excuse that he had been distracted at the start by a group of fillies which had made him behave coltishly. The stewards noted the explanation and suggested he be gelded to calm him down for future competitions.
The stewards also held an enquiry into the performances of CALUM and MICHAEL. Known as a huge lover of Royal Ascot, the stewards noted and accepted CALUM’s explanation of bad luck playing its role in his performance throughout the week. Having won last year’s competition, the stewards looked into the poor performance of MICHAEL. He explained that he had been too immersed in the betting markets surrounding the colour of the Queen’s hat which had affected his time for providing his selections. The stewards noted the excuse and ordered MICHAEL to be routine tested.
Apologies for the lack of videos this week but we should be back next Friday covering the Channel Four action next Saturday and looking back on an excellent week’s racing.
